Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Lexington, KY

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (5×8 shifts)

One weekend every 5 weeks; one winter holiday; call rotation included

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility's cardiology department is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform diagnostic echocardiography examinations on patients of all ages—from neonates through geriatric patients. You'll work in a dynamic clinical environment performing transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), assisting with transesophageal procedures (TEE), and conducting stress echocardiograms in collaboration with physicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality echocardiography examinations using standard imaging protocols
• Position patients and operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic-quality cardiac images
• Measure and evaluate cardiac structures and function, including chamber size, wall motion, valve function, and ejection fraction
• Recognize and document sonographic findings; flag critical results to physicians promptly
• Administer ultrasound contrast agents and start IVs as needed
• Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment
• Educate patients on procedures and address concerns with compassion
• Document findings accurately in cardiology and PACS systems
• Mentor junior sonographers and contribute to departmental quality and safety

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Cardiovascular or Diagnostic Medical Sonography
• RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI) certification in echocardiography
• BLS certification
• 1+ years of cardiac sonography experience
• State licensure as applicable
