Medical-Surgical Nursing – 12-Hour Night Shift
Position Overview
Join the medical-surgical nursing team for a 13-week assignment working 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with every-other-weekend participation. This role is ideal for nurses seeking a structured, supportive environment with clear expectations and collaborative care.
About the Unit
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessments, medication administration, and patient education
- Titrate select drips (heparin, Bumex, Lasix); cardiac drip titration not required
- Monitor patients on telemetry with support from a dedicated monitor technician
- Collaborate with charge nurses, care techs, and RT staff
- Float to other medical-surgical or intermediate care units as needed for lower-acuity patients
Requirements
- Current RN license and BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (first-time travelers welcome)
- Valid, unexpired driver's license
- Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends as scheduled
- Flexibility with scheduling; travelers help fill permanent staff gaps
What to Expect
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Two days of orientation (educator/IT and preceptor-led)
- Navy blue scrubs
- No call or standby requirements
