Medical-Surgical Nursing – 13-Week Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week assignment in medical-surgical nursing. This role offers a dynamic acute-care setting with established support systems and clear clinical expectations.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour days (7 AM – 7 PM)
- Weekends as scheduled (every other weekend)
- Possible holiday rotation participation
- No call or standby requirements
- Rotating shifts: typically 2 weeks of days, then 2 weeks of nights
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Unit Overview
Clinical Responsibilities
- Titrate heparin, Bumex, and Lasix (no cardiac drip titration)
- Monitor respiratory equipment (BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow O₂); RTs manage setup and ABGs
- RNs are not expected to read telemetry strips; monitoring techs handle this centrally
- Float to other medical-surgical or intermediate-care units as needed for lower-acuity patients
Requirements
- RN license and current BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience (first-time travelers welcome)
- Navy blue scrubs
- Flexible schedule; travelers help fill gaps in permanent staffing
Orientation
1 day with educator/computer system, 1 day with preceptor.
