Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit — Registered Nurse

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract | Morgantown, WV

This Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit primarily serves cardiac patients, including those recovering from cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, alongside general medical-surgical patients. Acuity varies, and many patients would be classified as Progressive Care or Telemetry level at larger facilities.

Shift & Schedule

• 3x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekdays with some weekend coverage required
• Weekend block scheduling (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon) will be considered
• Holiday RTO limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays

Clinical Skills Required

• IV insertion and peripheral line management
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (including titration)
• BiPAP/CPAP management, non-invasive airway management
• Heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Central line and PICC line care
• Pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years RN experience; at least 1 year in MS/Telemetry and 2 years in Stepdown
• Active ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility

Additional Details

• Scrubs: Burgundy and/or white (not provided)
• Orientation: 8 hours, held every other Monday
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Contract extension possible
