Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit RN — Morgantown, WV
13-Week Contract | Days | 4x12
A busy cardiac-focused Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week travel contract with strong potential for extension. The unit primarily serves adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures, alongside general medical-surgical patients. Acuity varies and may reflect progressive care or telemetry-level complexity.
Shift Details
- 4x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), weekdays with some weekend coverage
- Weekend block schedules considered (Fri–Sun or Sat–Mon)
- Holiday RTO limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years RN experience; at least 1 year in Med/Surg Telemetry and 2 years in Stepdown
- Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Active WV or Compact RN license (pending license accepted for submission)
- Permanent address 100+ miles from the facility required
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA-issued)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions considered)
Key Clinical Skills
- IV insertion and peripheral/PICC line management
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Cardiac drip management and titration (vasoactive and insulin)
- BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, heparin protocols
- Pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care
- Blood product administration, ABG interpretation
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Burgundy and/or white (not provided)
- Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, IV teams, and physical therapy
- Orientation: 8 hours, held every other Monday
