ICU Registered Nurse — Travel Contract

Plainview, TX | Day Shift | 13-Week Contract

This position places you in a rural critical access hospital ICU, providing bedside care to critically ill adult patients in a close-knit, collaborative environment. First-time travelers with at least one year of ICU experience are welcome.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 3×12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• 6 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Must commit to 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• On-call not required; no block scheduling

Role Details

• Bedside ICU nurse role only — charge nurse responsibilities are not assigned to travel staff
• When ICU census is low, you may assist on the Med-Surg unit with a limited patient assignment (approximately 1–2 patients); a full Med-Surg load is not expected
• Float to nearby sister facilities may be required; refusal may impact guaranteed hours
• Orientation: 40 hours

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Adult through geriatric patients; broad acuity range
• Common diagnoses include CHF exacerbation, COPD/asthma exacerbation, ia, GI bleed, pancreatitis, AKI, and electrolyte imbalances
• Required competencies: central line management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, blood product administration, heparin and insulin infusions, port access, and surgical drain care

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience
• Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Scrub color: Navy blue
