Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Med-Surg Oncology nurse for a 13-week contract assignment in Des Moines, IA. This is a full-time position with 36 guaranteed hours per week.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend (EOW) and end-of-shift (EOH) rotation
- Start date: October 24, 2026
Clinical Role
You'll deliver care to oncology patients across the medical-surgical spectrum, supporting chemotherapy administration, symptom management, post-operative recovery, and palliative needs. You'll work as part of a collaborative team managing complex patient conditions and providing compassionate, evidence-based nursing care.
Requirements
- Current RN license
- Specialty-specific competency testing and skills validation required
- Standard credentialing: background check, education verification, healthcare sanctions screening
- Required immunizations: COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, influenza, Tdap, varicella, and TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Fit test and color vision assessment
- Compliance training: abuse reporting, OFAC, and confidentiality agreements
What to Expect
You'll participate in comprehensive onboarding, including orientation to facility systems, compliance documentation, and specialty competency validation. All credentialing requirements must be completed before your start date.
