Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) — Night Shift | Eureka, CA

This 13-week contract opportunity is open to travel Clinical Lab Scientists seeking a fast-paced generalist role on night shift (4:00 AM – 12:00 PM), with a start date of ASAP.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift, 5×8-hour shifts
• Weekend coverage varies to meet department needs
• Holiday commitment required: must work 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

Clinical Scope

This is a generalist position covering Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Serology, and limited Microbiology. Recent Blood Bank experience is required — Blood Bank coverage is typically assigned once a traveler extends. The lab serves a diverse patient population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Float coverage to an Observation/ER Hold unit may be required; refusal to float may impact guaranteed hours.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• ASCP-MLS
• California CLS License must be in hand at time of submission — no exceptions, no pending licenses accepted
• Minimum 2 years of experience

Key Skills Expected

ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, crossmatching, blood banking procedures, CBC, coagulation studies, urinalysis (manual and microscopic), culture plating, PCR testing, transfusion reaction workups, QA/QC, and specimen handling from collection through reporting.

• Float between nearby sister facilities may be required
• Scrubs acceptable; no jeans or logo tees
• Maximum 7 days of pre-approved time off; all RTO must be requested at time of submission
