Physical Therapist Assistant — Acute Care Rehabilitation
Position Overview
Join the rehabilitation team at an acute care facility in Merced, CA. You'll work with a diverse inpatient population across medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurological, and pulmonary specialties, plus support an off-site outpatient center. This role offers variety and the chance to make a real clinical impact.
Shift & Schedule
- 10-hour shifts: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (0830–1900)
- 40 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract
- Weekend rotation required for PT travelers (split W–S or Sun–W arrangements)
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
Clinical Scope
Work with an adult and geriatric inpatient census averaging 150 patients. Common conditions include post-orthopedic surgery, stroke recovery, neurological disorders, and pulmonary complications. You'll also float to support the outpatient center (2.5 miles away) and participate in the facility's early mobility and stroke certification programs. Hand therapy and wound care are key components of the department.
Staffing & Support
You'll collaborate with a structured therapy team including a Lead Inpatient Therapist, Therapy Supervisor, and Director of Rehab Services. The facility supports 24/7 RT and pharmacy, with hospitalists and telemedicine intensivists on-site.
Requirements
- Valid California PT license
- Current BLS (AHA) certification
- Ability to float between inpatient acute and outpatient settings
Dress Code
Burgundy polo or long-sleeve shirt, black pants, and closed-toe shoes.
