Pharmacist – 13-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team on a full-time, 13-week contract. You will deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services across inpatient and ambulatory care settings, ensuring safe and effective drug therapy management.
Shift Schedule
Rotating shifts:
- 07:30–16:00
- 08:00–16:30
- 14:00–22:30
Availability for holiday coverage (Christmas/New Year) and occasional overnight shifts to support PTO coverage (3–4 days) is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, dispense, and compound pharmaceutical orders (non-sterile, sterile, chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition) per physician requests and established protocols
- Interpret and verify drug orders; maintain accurate, complete patient medication records
- Issue controlled substances and maintain compliance records
- Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug interactions, and appropriateness
- Provide pharmacokinetics consultation and renal drug dosing support
- Supervise pharmacy support personnel
- Deliver clinical consultation to practitioners and patient/family education
- Participate in antibiotic stewardship, opioid stewardship, and shortage management initiatives
- Attend interdisciplinary rounds as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS Pharmacy degree
- TX state Pharmacy licensure
- IV certification; competency in sterile compounding
- BLS or ACLS (AHA) certification
- PALS (AHA) certification
- Proficiency with computerized pharmacy systems and automated dispensing technology
- Hospital experience preferred
