Ortho-Neuro RN | 13-Week Travel Contract | Parkersburg, WV

This Orthopedics-Neurology unit manages a primarily surgical patient population, including elective joint replacements (hips, knees, shoulders), post-fracture care, and spinal/neurosurgical cases. General med-surg patients are also seen on the unit.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour days, 0700–1930
• Every-other-weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
• Holiday coverage based on unit need
• 36 guaranteed hours per week

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Anticipated start: October 2026

Clinical Requirements

• Active RN license
• BLS (AHA) required
• Experience with orthopedic patients is required
• Proficiency with PCA pumps is required
• IV fluid management; no heparin or titratable drips

Unit Environment

• All private rooms
• A charge nurse is present 24/7; day charge may carry a patient load
• Patient Care Techs support vitals, blood glucose checks, ADLs, and Foley removal
• Remote telemetry available; RNs are not required to read strips
• Respiratory support (CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow) managed by respiratory therapy

Floating

• Travelers are first to float to other med-surg units; tele assignments are within RN skillset

Orientation

• Two-day orientation: one day of charting system training, one day with a floor preceptor

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs; royal blue scrub jackets permitted (no hoodies or non-scrub outerwear)
