Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) — Registered Nurse

This position is based in a combined Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit caring for higher-acuity neuroscience patients. The unit manages a diverse patient population including stroke, seizure, post-craniotomy, and EVD cases, with dedicated EMU beds for epilepsy monitoring.
Shift & Schedule
- 4 x 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
- Holiday rotation required
- Start date: October 24, 2026
Clinical Scope
- Stepdown acuity with titratable drip protocols (amiodarone, cardizem, nitro, dopamine, ketamine, insulin, and others)
- Telemetry monitored unit; strip reading not required of RNs
- Respiratory therapy available around the clock for vent management; RN vent experience not required
- Charge nurse coverage 24/7; nurse aide support on every shift
Required Certifications & Skills
- BLS required
- NIHSS certification required at time of submission
- ACLS preferred
- Strong neuroscience background with demonstrated stroke patient care experience
Additional Details
- Contract length: 13 weeks (approximately 91 weeks total engagement noted)
- Guaranteed hours: 48 per week
- Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
- Float potential to nearby neuro/med-surg units
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Unit orientation: 2 shifts
- COVID vaccination required; exemption process available for medical or religious reasons
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
