Neuro Stepdown / Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) — Registered Nurse

Morgantown, WV | 13-Week Contract | Nights

This travel RN opportunity is on a combined Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit caring for higher-acuity neuroscience patients. The unit manages strokes, post-craniotomy patients, seizure disorders, EVD care, and EMU monitoring.

Shift & Schedule

• 3 × 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every-other-weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday rotation required
• Up to 2 cancellations permitted per 13-week contract
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Clinical Details

• Stepdown patients include strokes, craniotomies, and post-TPA monitoring (>24 hrs)
• EMU patients managed for seizure activity and epilepsy evaluation
• Titratable drips per physician order (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, insulin, and others)
• Telemetry present; RNs are not required to read strips
• Respiratory therapy available around the clock; floor vents managed by RT
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7; nurse aides on unit each shift
• Float may be required to other neurological/medical units within the facility

Requirements

• Strong neuro step-down experience required
• NIHSS certification required at time of submission
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Active RN license (facility will wait for licensure)
• COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Orientation & Dress Code

• 2-shift unit orientation
• Royal Blue scrubs
