CVICU – Travel RN | 12-Hour Nights | Parkersburg, WV

Contract: 13 weeks | Start: November 16, 2026

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Weekends as scheduled | 36 guaranteed hours/week

This mixed-acuity Cardiovascular ICU cares for a complex cardiac and thoracic patient population, including fresh post-operative open heart cases, cardiogenic shock, acute MI, and thoracic surgical patients (VATS, lobectomy). The unit supports both step-down and full ICU-level patients.

Required Certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA)

Must-Have Clinical Experience:

• Fresh open heart or >6-hour post-op cardiac surgical patients
• CRRT, temporary pacemakers, and post-permanent pacemaker management
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization (acute MI)
• Mediastinal and chest tube management
• Mechanical ventilation and hypothermia protocol
• Arterial line management
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips (including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, sedation, and anticoagulants)

Preferred: IABP, Impella, and Swan-Ganz/hemodynamic monitoring experience

Unit Support:

• Intensivist/hospitalist in-house around the clock
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Monitor techs watch telemetry off-unit; RNs read their own strips every 4 hours
• 1–2 PCTs per shift

Scheduling & Float:

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling requests honored when possible
• Every other weekend required
• Travelers float first — primarily to ACU and ICU; Med-Surg/Tele float capped at 6 patients
• No on-call requirement

Dress Code: Royal Blue Scrubs

Orientation: One week, including unit modules and hands-on orientation with staff RNs
