Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Acute Stroke & Neurology Unit | Rochester, NY

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This unit specializes in the care of acute stroke patients and individuals with neurological disorders, operating under an adjustable acuity care delivery model grounded in evidence-based practice. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics presenting with CVA, TIA, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, and dementia.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within skillset required

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start: November 17, 2026

Requirements

• Active NY RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, and valid NIHSS required (include current NIHSS in submittal)

Clinical Skills & Scope

• Telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Post-tPA care, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols
• Central line care, PICC line management, peripheral IV insertion
• Tracheostomy care, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration
• Blood product administration, PCA management, wound care/wound vac
• Pre/post neurosurgery and hemodialysis management
• Seizure precautions, spinal cord injury care, substance withdrawal management
• Rapid Response and Code Team participation

• Charting experience is a hard requirement
