Pediatric Hematology/Oncology RN — Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA

Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 36 hours/week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 23, 2026

This pediatric unit manages a diverse patient population spanning hematology/oncology, general medical-surgical, and a broad range of pediatric specialties. Nurses work in a high-engagement environment requiring flexibility across acuity levels and clinical settings.

Float Requirements:

Travelers must be willing to float to the Emergency Department for inpatient holds and may be called upon to support the NICU or PICU as needed.

Call & Weekend Expectations:

• On-call may be required during low census (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holiday rotation required (1–2 summer holidays)

Requirements:

• Minimum 24 months of pediatric and/or oncology nursing experience (on resume)
• Pediatric experience within the past 18 months — required
• Hematology/oncology experience — highly preferred
• At least one completed travel contract within the past 18 months — required
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license — required
• BLS (AHA) — required
• PALS (AHA) — required
• APHON certification — nice to have
• Pediatric-specific skills checklist — required
• Professional reference from charge nurse, supervisor, or nursing leadership within the past 24 months — preferred
• Valid driver's license — required

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.

Orientation dates available: 11/23, 12/7, and 12/21.
