Dietitian Position

Location: Elmhurst, NY

Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 11, 2026

About the Role

The facility is seeking a Dietitian to provide comprehensive nutrition screening, assessment, and education to patients across the care continuum. You will play a key role in optimizing patient nutrition outcomes by evaluating dietary needs, identifying food and drug interactions, and collaborating with the clinical team on appropriate nutrition interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Screen and assess patients' nutritional status and needs in a timely manner
• Interview patients and families to gather food habits, preferences, and medical history
• Review laboratory values, physical findings, and social factors to inform nutrition care plans
• Identify and document food-drug interactions; educate patients and providers accordingly
• Provide individualized nutrition education and modify patient menus as clinically indicated
• Consult with physicians on diet modifications and special nutritional requirements
• Document assessments, education, and patient understanding in the medical record

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition from an accredited college/university

Licensure & Certification:

• For acute-care settings: Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian
• For post-acute/long-term care settings: New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist (NYSED)
• Primary source verification required

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of clinical dietetics experience

Preferred:

• Master's degree
• 2+ years of experience
• AHA BLS certification

Language: Fluent English (read, write, speak)
