Med Surg

Medical-Surgical RN — Travel Contract | Johnson City, TN

13-Week Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (06:30–19:00)

This Medical-Surgical unit cares for an adult and geriatric population managing conditions such as chest pain, CHF, COPD, and UTI. The unit is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, and social services.

Schedule & Staffing

• Day shifts: 06:30–19:00
• Schedule options: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48
• Rotating weekends and holidays
• No call required
• Floating required
• Census-based flex shifts may occur without financial penalty per contract terms

Clinical Skills & Scope

• Management of dysrhythmias and EKG interpretation
• Peripheral line care and management
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration
• Isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Use of rapid response and code teams

Requirements

• Minimum 1–2 years of Med-Surg RN experience
• AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS preferred (AHA certification only accepted)
• NIHSS preferred
• First-time travelers welcome
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area

Compliance Notes

• Relias basic EKG test must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Drug screening required 12–14 days prior to start date
• Fit testing required; facial hair must be trimmed or removed per CDC guidelines
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Orientation begins on Sundays and includes online modules

Candidates are also expected to support nursing student clinical education alongside their standard patient care responsibilities.
