PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown Unit (SDU) — Travel RN | San Diego, CA

Shift: Days | 3×12-Hour (07:00–19:30)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 2, 2026 (hard start; October 19 also available)

About the Role

This travel RN position is on a stepdown unit providing intermediate-level care to a medically complex patient population. The role requires strong clinical judgment, comfort managing higher-acuity patients outside the ICU, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule & Coverage

• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle
• At least one holiday shift, including the associated holiday weekend
• Float requirement: may float to like or lower-acuity units across multiple campuses as needed (ED excluded)

Required Certifications

• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• NIHSS

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (Temp or Perm) required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of concurrent stepdown/SDU experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Electronic health record experience required within the last 6 months
• Must be located outside a 100-mile radius of the facility
• Maximum 7 days of pre-approved time off; no new RTO requests after submission
• One supervisory-level reference required
