Medical-Surgical Orthopedics RN — Travel Contract

Redding, CA | 13-Week Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts

This Medical-Surgical Orthopedic unit cares for patients recovering from hip, knee, shoulder, and spine procedures. The unit does not manage IV drips, making it well-suited for nurses with strong post-surgical ortho fundamentals.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour days, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required; 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holidays rotate with permanent staff

Clinical Details

• Patient population: post-operative orthopedic surgical cases
• Portable telemetry available; monitor tech on unit — nurses must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms; a dysrhythmia exam is required
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• Hospitalist coverage in house around the clock
• No ventilator management on this unit
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided

Float Requirements

• First-to-float policy applies; may float to telemetry or other medical-surgical floors
• Telemetry float ratio differs from unit ratio

Requirements

• 2–3 years of Medical-Surgical Orthopedics experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Must be able to pass a dysrhythmia competency exam
• Scrub color: Navy

Contract Details

• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Cancellation policy: up to 4 shifts may be cancelled over a 13-week assignment
