Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse | Redding, CA | 13-Week Contract

This Medical-Surgical unit cares for a mixed population of medical and post-operative/surgical patients. The role requires a clinically confident nurse comfortable managing general acuity cases with hospitalist coverage available around the clock, along with 24/7 IV team and pharmacy support.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend (EOW)
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holidays worked into the permanent staff rotation; RTO requests considered but not guaranteed
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Float Requirements

• First to float; may be assigned to telemetry or other med-surg floors
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms; a dysrhythmia exam is required prior to taking telemetry patients

Unit Support

• Clinical supervisor handles break relief and does not carry a patient assignment
• Nurse aide support on all shifts
• Portable telemetry monitoring available with dedicated monitor tech

Orientation

• One shift of floor-specific orientation

Requirements

• 2–3 years of Med-Surg experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS certification
• COVID vaccine required
• BSN not required; must hold an active CA RN license
