Medical-Surgical / Surgical Care Unit — Travel RN

Lakewood, CO | 13-Week Contract | Nights

This assignment places you on an acute-care surgical unit managing post-operative patients with a variety of complex needs. The unit cares for post-surgical patients requiring drain and chest tube management, pain control, and anticoagulation therapy.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling both available
• Holiday requirement applies

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titration of drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• Management of surgical patients with drains, chest tubes, and complex pain needs
• Respiratory support up to 6L nasal cannula, CPAP, and BiPAP (BiPAP night use only)
• Telemetry monitoring supported by central tele techs; RNs are not required to read their own strips

Float Requirements

• May be asked to float within the assigned zone, including ICU, PCU/Step-down, and Med-Surg Telemetry units

Requirements

• Current RN licensure (must submit prior to start)
• BLS and ACLS (both AHA)
• General med-surg experience required; surgical population experience strongly preferred
• BSN not required
• Must reside within 60 miles of the facility; valid driver's license required
• Must be on-site for the full week of orientation

• Nurse aides on unit; charge nurse takes an assignment
