Psychiatric RN – Pediatric Inpatient Unit

Position Overview

Join the psychiatric care team on a locked inpatient unit serving children and adolescents ages 4–18. You'll work night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), three 12-hour days per week, providing crisis stabilization and therapeutic support to young patients with complex mental health needs.

Clinical Setting

Key Responsibilities

• Medication administration and nursing assessments
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and de-escalation interventions
• Conduct regular safety checks in a secured environment
• Assist with ADLs (meal supervision, bathing, toileting, laundry)

• Engage patients in recreational and therapeutic activities
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and code response
• Document care in the electronic medical record

Requirements

• Current RN license (Ohio single-state or compact; OH compact status effective Jan 1, 2023)
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years experience in psychiatric nursing
• Minimum 1 year pediatric psychiatric experience
• 1 year travel nursing experience preferred
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training completion within first month (provided)
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and participate in physical restraint/holds
• Two manager references from the past 12 months
• Full vaccination (including COVID) with no exemptions

Scheduling

• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Maximum 5 days pre-approved time off at submission
• May float within inpatient psychiatry units
• Block scheduling not guaranteed

Contract Details

• 14 weeks
• Start date: November 16, 2026
• Orientation: 64 hours
