Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Registered Nurse to join its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll provide nursing care to patients requiring closer monitoring than a standard medical-surgical unit but not ICU-level care. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where clinical judgment and strong assessment skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and manage moderate-acuity patients, including those transitioning from ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs, identifying and responding promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust the plan of care
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment plan, and recovery
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients)
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are consistently followed

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Minimum 1+ year of PCU or step-down experience
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
• ADN or BSN; BSN preferred
• Proficiency with electronic health records

Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend per unit need
• 13-week contract
• Start date: November 29, 2026
