Pediatric OR Nurse – 13-Week Contract
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Pediatric Operating Room team. You'll provide circulating and scrub nursing support across a variety of pediatric surgical specialties, including general, orthopedic, ENT, urology, and craniofacial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields using pediatric-specific instruments and equipment
- Perform pre-operative assessments, verify surgical site and consent, and account for pediatric considerations
- Execute accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each case
- Monitor patient status and safety throughout procedures, with attention to pediatric dosing and physiology
- Support family-centered care practices, including parental presence during induction when applicable
- Collaborate with pediatric surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure efficient case flow
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and safe handoff to PACU/PICU staff
- Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact license)
- Minimum 1+ years of pediatric OR experience
- BLS and PALS certification
- ADN or BSN
- Strong knowledge of pediatric surgical procedures and family-centered perioperative care
