ICU / CCU Travel Nurse — Float Pool | Oxnard, CA
Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract: 13 weeks | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
Start Date: November 9, 2026
This is a float pool position spanning two acute care facilities located approximately 9 miles apart. You'll be based at the primary site but must be comfortable floating between both locations, as well as to stepdown/IMCU, DOU, telemetry, or observation units.
Clinical Scope
The ICU/CCU manages high-acuity patients across a broad range of diagnoses, including neurological surgery (craniotomies, carotid procedures, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring), open-heart surgery, post-cath care, intra-aortic balloon pump, and Impella support. The secondary site manages sepsis, respiratory failure, ia, stroke, and chronic vent patients. No CRRT or ECMO.
Nurses independently read telemetry strips. RT and pharmacy are available 24/7. Intensivist/hospitalist coverage is in-house with on-call after hours.
Vasoactive & Sedation Drips: vasopressors (vasopressin, levophed, norepinephrine, dopamine, dobutamine), propofol, fentanyl, and others
Ventilator management: required at both sites
Schedule & Requirements
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation with permanent staff (one major, one minor)
- 3-shift orientation at primary unit; additional orientation shifts at secondary sites
- Scrub color: Navy
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required; PALS required at primary site
- Prior travel experience preferred
- General ICU background preferred; neuro or cardiac-specific experience a plus
- BSN not required; active CA RN license required
