Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Oakland, CA
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for a day shift assignment in the clinical laboratory. This is a backfill position with a minimum contract duration of 39 weeks.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5×8-hour shifts)
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- On-call: Yes
- Float: Yes — you'll support lab needs across departments as needed
Required Qualifications
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (California)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience
- Proficiency in blood bank, chemistry, and hematology/coagulation
- Gram stain competency
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Preferred Qualifications
- ASCP or ASCP-MLS certification
- Experience with:
- Stool analysis
- Therapeutic drug monitoring
- Thyroid testing
- Tumor markers
- Immunology/serology
- Microbiology
- PCR testing
- Electronic crossmatching and transfusion reaction workup
Clinical Scope
You'll perform a full range of laboratory testing across diverse patient populations (neonates through geriatrics), including specimen collection and preparation, automated and manual analyses, microbiology culture work, immunoassays, and blood banking procedures.
