Stepdown / PCU – Travel RN | La Jolla, CA | Day Shift | 13-Week Contract

This Stepdown/PCU position is ideal for an experienced travel RN comfortable managing complex, multi-system patients in a fast-paced environment across a multi-campus health system.

Shift & Schedule

• Days, 3×12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30)
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle; at least one holiday shift required
• 36-hour orientation

Clinical Scope

The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with a broad range of diagnoses including neurological (CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, pre/post neurosurgery), cardiovascular (post-cardiac cath/angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac surgery, telemetry, dysrhythmia management), and surgical (craniotomy, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, skin grafts, wound care). Additional competencies include vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, insulin drip titration, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, HFNC/BiPAP/CPAP, central line and PICC management, heparin protocols, and thrombolytic administration.

Float Requirements

Nurses may be required to float to MS/Tele, observation, or ED hold areas within the system, including other campuses, based on census needs.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Temp or Perm) required at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS (AHA-issued); NIHSS (may be obtained during onboarding)
• Minimum 2 years of concurrent Stepdown/PCU experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Electronic health record experience required within the past 6 months
• No candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility
