Step-Down / Progressive Care RN — Night Shift | San Diego Area, CA

Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3x12-hour shifts

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

This step-down position supports a complex, high-acuity intermediate care patient population including adults and geriatrics. The unit manages a broad range of diagnoses and procedures, requiring a clinically versatile nurse comfortable with both neurological and cardiovascular care.

Clinical Scope Includes:

• Neurological: CVA, intracranial bleeds, post-neurosurgery care, craniotomy, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury
• Cardiovascular: cardiac telemetry, pre/post cardiac cath, post-MI, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, pacemaker management, thrombolytic agents
• Respiratory: BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, ABG interpretation
• Additional: central line and PICC management, heparin protocols, IV insulin and drip titration, chest tube management, wound vac, tracheostomy care, epidural analgesia, renal failure management

Scheduling & Float:

• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle required
• At least one holiday shift, including the holiday weekend
• Float required down to med/surg, telemetry, or observation/ED holds as needed; may float to alternate campus locations

Requirements:

• Active California RN license (Temporary or Permanent) required at time of submission
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS (may obtain during onboarding)
• Minimum 2 years of concurrent step-down/PCU experience
• Electronic charting experience within the last 6 months required
• Travel RN experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from San Diego to qualify
