Mother Baby / Post Partum RN — Overland Park, KS

Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 13-Week Contract

This postpartum unit in Overland Park, KS, cares for women of childbearing age and newborns across a range of clinical scenarios including postpartum recovery, LDRP, well-baby nursery care, and attendance at births for newborn assessment.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Scheduling typically includes two hard-to-staff shifts (Monday/Friday) and one full weekend every third week, plus one additional weekend requirement
• No on-call requirements
• Float within women's services; cross-training to pediatrics or NICU may expand float scope

Clinical Scope

• Postpartum assessment and recovery, including abnormal assessment recognition
• Risk identification: sepsis, VTE/DVT, suicide screening, malignant hyperthermia, and pressure injury
• Pain management, discharge education, and acuity-based prioritization
• Circumcisions performed on unit
• RN-driven team; limited PCT support during short-staffing situations only

Requirements

• Active RN license; graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
• Certifications: BLS, NRP (required)
• Prior experience in postpartum, LDRP, well-baby nursery, and birth attendance
• Familiarity with AIDET and BSSR communication frameworks

Dress Code

Black scrub pants with a Caribbean blue scrub top, vest, or jacket
