Assistant Director of Nursing – Medical/Surgical Unit

Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: Alternating weekends required
Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role
The facility is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to provide administrative and clinical leadership for a medical/surgical unit. You'll oversee daily operations, staffing, and resource allocation while ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead unit staffing, scheduling, and resource planning
- Monitor performance metrics, quality indicators, and regulatory adherence
- Support staff development, performance evaluations, and corrective action as needed
- Serve as clinical resource for complex patient care and staff issues
- Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership on operational initiatives
- Facilitate staff education, onboarding, and unit meetings
- Develop and maintain systems for tracking medication errors and staff counseling
- Participate in budget planning and process improvement efforts
- Address patient and family concerns; escalate as appropriate
Requirements
- Active RN license in New York State (Primary Source Verification from NYSED required)
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Master's degree preferred)
- BLS certification required
- 7+ years of clinical nursing experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Medical/surgical nursing experience required
- Strong leadership, performance management, and communication skills
