Operating Room Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment in the Bronx. You will work days from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM in a busy surgical environment performing both scrub and circulating duties.
Required Qualifications
- Current New York State RN License with primary source verification from NYSED
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited program
- Minimum 2 years of scrubbing and circulating experience, with demonstrated expertise in trauma cases, complex orthopedic procedures, and neurosurgery
- Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
- Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CNOR certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Serve as scrub and circulating nurse across diverse surgical specialties
- Maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment throughout procedures
- Perform pre-operative verification of surgical site, consent, and protocol compliance
- Execute accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts at all phases
- Monitor patient safety and hemodynamic status during surgery
- Manage supplies and equipment availability and functionality
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the surgical team
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff
- Document intraoperative care accurately
