Labor & Delivery RN – 13-Week Night Contract

Location: Fairfield, CA

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 2, 2026

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN to join the obstetric team on the night shift. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, managing maternal and fetal assessment throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status continuously; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
• Administer labor medications, including induction/augmentation agents and epidural support, per physician orders
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support during cesarean sections
• Recognize and manage high-risk OB conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with appropriate interventions
• Provide immediate newborn resuscitation support and care
• Educate patients and families on labor progression, pain management options, and postpartum expectations
• Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams on the plan of care
• Document labor progress and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Support patients and families through the emotional and physical journey of childbirth

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (California or compact license)
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Minimum 1+ year of L&D experience
• Demonstrated competency with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal/cesarean deliveries
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted

Schedule Notes

• Nights with overtime after 40 hours per week and double time after 12 hours per day (AWS)
• Must be willing and able to float to sister facilities and other departments as needed and qualified
• Class date: November 6 or November 20, 2026
