Registered Nurse – Operating Room
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across a variety of surgical specialties. You will work as part of a collaborative surgical team, ensuring safe, efficient patient care from pre-operative preparation through post-operative handoff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform circulating and/or scrub duties during general surgical procedures (general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ENT, and related specialties)
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
- Conduct pre-operative assessments; verify surgical site, consent, and procedures per protocol
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each case
- Monitor patient safety and status throughout procedures
- Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure availability and proper function
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to maintain smooth case flow
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative care coordination
- Document intraoperative care accurately in the electronic medical record
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact license as applicable)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience; 1+ year of general OR experience preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
- Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
Schedule
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3 days per week
- On-call every 5th weekend and every 15th Friday night
- Occasional 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM call (approximately once per month)
