Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Position Overview

Join the surgical team in a busy operating room setting. You'll provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across a variety of general surgical procedures, including general surgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, and ENT cases. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the broader surgical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform circulating and/or scrub duties during diverse surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each case
• Monitor patient safety and status throughout procedures
• Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure availability and proper function
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to PACU
• Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of general operating room experience
• Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles
• ADN or BSN
• CNOR certification preferred

Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 13-week contract
• Louisville, Kentucky
