PACU Registered Nurse – 13-Week Contract
Location: Lexington, KY
Shift: 2nd shift, three 12-hour days per week (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM, Monday–Friday)
Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: November 16, 2026
About the Role
Join the facility's Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) as a Registered Nurse. You'll provide immediate post-operative and post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures, working closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, smooth transitions through recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients for airway patency, hemodynamic stability, and anesthesia recovery
- Manage pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms per physician orders
- Recognize and respond promptly to post-anesthesia complications (respiratory depression, hemorrhage, hypotension)
- Monitor and manage airway and ventilatory support during emergence from anesthesia
- Provide patient and family education on post-operative care, pain management, and discharge instructions
- Determine readiness for transfer to inpatient unit or discharge per facility criteria
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient response accurately
- Ensure infection control and safety protocols are maintained
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS certification required; ACLS required
- 1+ years of PACU or critical care experience
- Experience with airway management and post-anesthesia recovery protocols
- ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse)
- Cardiac, telemetry, or ICU experience
