Registered Nurse – Cardiothoracic ICU

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week (includes weekends and holidays)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Lexington, KY

About the Role

The facility's Cardiothoracic ICU provides intensive care to critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and support. You'll deliver direct, evidence-based nursing care to high-acuity patients, including post-cardiac-surgery cases and those requiring hemodynamic support.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Manage advanced life support equipment, including ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitors
• Administer medications, including titratable vasoactive and sedation drips, per physician orders
• Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team on individualized care plans
• Perform rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and care needs
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record
• Support a healing environment through compassionate, professional communication
• Participate in quality improvement and core measure initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (state or compact)
• ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 1+ years of ICU/critical care experience
• Comfort with critical care equipment, ventilators, and titratable drips
• CCRN certification preferred
