Registered Nurse – Mother Baby
Position Overview
The facility seeks a compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Mother Baby unit for a 13-week contract. You'll provide couplet care to postpartum mothers and newborns, delivering evidence-based nursing practice rooted in patient-centered care and family support during this critical transition.
Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Days: 3 shifts per week
- Weekends: 4 shifts in a 6-week rotation
- Call: None required
- Holidays: As needed per facility policy
Your Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments, including vital signs, fundal checks, lochia, incision/perineal care, and newborn screening
- Provide couplet care following vaginal or cesarean delivery
- Monitor for postpartum complications (hemorrhage, infection, preeclampsia) and escalate appropriately
- Support and educate mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, bonding, and safety
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and interdisciplinary teams
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
- Support families emotionally through the transition to parenthood
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
- 1+ years of mother baby/postpartum experience
Preferred Qualifications
- RNC-MNN (Maternal Newborn Nursing) certification
- BSN degree
