Operating Room RN — Des Moines, IA | 13-Week Contract

This OR opportunity is ideal for an experienced surgical nurse comfortable across multiple service lines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Schedule

• Days, Monday–Friday, 4x10s with a 6:30 AM start
• Rotating day off; 40 hours/week
• Holiday rotation required (1–2 winter holidays)
• Weekend call from end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday; approximately one overnight call per week and three weekends per contract

The Unit

The OR runs 12–14 active suites daily, averaging 35–50 cases per day with turnover expectations under 20 minutes. Service lines include cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma, robotic surgery, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplant, and limited ENT and plastics. The unit utilizes robotic-assisted surgical platforms and neuro-navigation technology. Float across multiple campuses is required.

Requirements

• Minimum 24 months of current OR experience (hospital/medical center setting prioritized)
• Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
• Required case experience: General, robotic-assisted surgery, pediatrics, and trauma
• Preferred case experience: Neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma, gynecology, urology, transplant, plastics, ENT, vascular
• Prior trauma experience required; high-acuity trauma experience strongly preferred
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the last 15 months
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
• BLS (AHA or ARC) required

Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
