ED Holding RN – Night Shift

Position Overview

Join the ED Holding unit as a night shift RN supporting patients in the Emergency Department who are awaiting inpatient beds. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment where you'll manage medical and surgical adult patients, including some step-down/PCU-level cases.

Shift & Schedule

• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour nights (18:45–07:15)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Time Off: Maximum 7 days RTO per contract (holidays excluded); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Floating: Required as needed between ED and medical/surgical areas

Requirements

• 2+ years nursing experience (MS/Tele and ED holding experience required)
• Current RN license (NC or Compact; pending licensure acceptable)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)

Clinical Scope

• Manage dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, central lines, chest tubes, high-flow oxygen, non-invasive ventilation, IV management, and wound care
• Collaborate with respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams

Unit Details

• 12-hour orientation
• Navy scrubs
• Standard cardiac monitoring, IV pumps, and medical equipment
• No call required
