Phase I PACU Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

Join the PACU team providing immediate post-operative care across all surgical specialties and patient ages. You'll manage varied acuities in a fast-paced environment, supporting patients from arrival through Phase I recovery.

Shift & Schedule

• Day shifts: 3x12 hours (9:00 AM – 9:00 PM)
• 2 weekend shifts per contract
• No call required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (AHA only)
• Inpatient and Phase I PACU experience
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility

Clinical Scope

You'll provide comprehensive post-operative nursing care including:

• Arterial line and central line management
• Airway management and ventilator care
• Conscious sedation and post-epidural monitoring
• Dysrhythmia recognition and hemodynamic monitoring
• Pain and sedation assessment (PCA pump, narcotics, reversal agents)
• ICP monitoring and external ventricular drain care
• Blood product administration and IV vasopressor management

Patients range from neonates to geriatrics undergoing general, orthopedic, vascular, neuro, bariatric, ENT, GYN, and ophthalmology procedures.

Orientation & Compliance

• Orientation begins Sundays with online modules (16 hours non-billable)
• Relias advanced EKG test required within 72 hours of acceptance
• Drug screening and fit testing required per facility protocol
• Nursing student education support expected as part of clinical role
