Registered Nurse – Post-Operative Cardiac Care – Night Shift

Position Overview

Join the facility's post-operative cardiac unit as a night shift Registered Nurse. You'll provide direct patient care on a 12-hour night schedule (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with a 36-hour weekly guarantee. This 13-week contract begins October 20, 2026.

Clinical Scope

You'll care for post-operative open-heart surgery patients and manage complex cardiac conditions in a critical care setting. Responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria
• Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation, with rapid recognition and response to arrhythmias
• Chest tube and drain management (including assisting with removal)
• Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access
• Management of temporary pacemakers (pericardial and transcutaneous)
• Use and troubleshooting of non-invasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen delivery systems
• Mentoring and directing LPNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries

You'll float to other units as needed within your skill level.

Requirements

• 2+ years of nursing experience (required)
• Post-operative open-heart care experience (required)
• Critical care experience (highly preferred)
• Active Ohio or Compact RN License
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current skills checklist relevant to post-operative cardiac nursing

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• No on-call expectations
