Emergency Room RN — Evening Shift | Merced, CA

This fast-paced Emergency Department is seeking an experienced travel RN for an 18-week contract beginning November 9. The unit manages a high volume of acute ER presentations in a busy, well-supported environment and serves as the base hospital for local EMS services.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour evenings, 3 PM start time
• 2 weekends per 4-week period
• Holidays required as needed
• No floating outside the ER
• Self-scheduling unit; schedule rebalancing at supervisor discretion

Clinical Scope

• Typical ER patient population across all acuity levels
• STEMIs and hemorrhagic strokes are transferred out; pediatric cases are diverted
• Unit is stroke certified
• ER nurses take responsibility for boarded/held patients
• Strong, thorough documentation skills are essential
• Practice follows EMTALA standards

Unit Support

• Charge nurse coverage 24/7
• ER Techs (EMT, MA, or CNA background) assist with tech duties and EKGs
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• Up to 6 preceptor shifts during orientation; hospital modules completed during orientation

Requirements

• Active RN license
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Recent EMR experience required — please indicate on your resume where you have used it
• Strong ER documentation skills

Uniform

• Navy blue scrubs; scrub jackets and undershirts must be navy, white, or black

Contract Details

• Duration: 18 weeks | Guaranteed: 36 hours/week
• Available start dates: 11/9, 11/30, 12/14
• Scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
