Emergency Room RN — Travel Contract

Long Beach, CA | 13-Week Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts

This busy Emergency Department serves a diverse, high-acuity patient population including STEMI and CVA receiving cases, trauma patients, pediatric presentations, and individuals experiencing homelessness or substance use challenges. The department sees between 40–160 patients per day and includes a fast-track area. Candidates should be comfortable with the full spectrum of emergent and urgent care.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts; multiple start times available (0630–1900 through 0930–2200 and others)
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Clinical Responsibilities

• RNs perform all lab draws and must independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips
• Ventilator management experience expected
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• Charge nurses carry no patient assignment
• Nurse aides and Emergency Medical Aides provide additional support (EKGs, splints, patient care)
• No floating required

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS

Minimum Experience

• 3–5 years of Emergency Department RN experience required

Scrub Color

• Navy blue (RNs)

Orientation

• Includes a Lifespan Trauma module, 1 day with supervisor, and 2 days with preceptor

• Duration: 13 weeks (91 days)
• Cancellation policy: Up to 4 shifts may be cancelled during the assignment
