PCU / Stepdown

MedSurg Stepdown / Floor RN — Morgantown, WV

This combined MedSurg Stepdown and Floor unit provides care for a mixed-acuity patient population. The unit operates with a stepdown side and a general floor side, caring for patients with a range of medical-surgical diagnoses requiring close monitoring and skilled nursing intervention.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Weekends and holidays required
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Anticipated start: October 20, 2026

Clinical Details

• Stepdown and general floor patients; acuity ranges from monitored step-down to standard med-surg
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Respiratory therapy is in-house 24/7; ventilated patients are present on the unit
• Telemetry monitoring is in place; tele techs post strips each shift, but RNs must be independently proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips
• Nurse aides typically available (2–5 per shift)
• Charge Nurse and Transport RN present during day shift hours

Float Requirements

• Floating to other units may be required

Requirements

• Active RN license (willing to wait for licensure)
• BLS certification required
• BSN not required
• Proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation required
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis)

Dress Code

• Royal Blue scrubs
