Postpartum Registered Nurse – Night Shift

The Opportunity

Join the postpartum unit for a 13-week contract working nights (7 PM – 7 AM) on an every-other-weekend schedule. This busy, supportive unit manages high-risk obstetric patients and provides family-centered couplet care in an acute care setting.

The Role

Clinical Environment

• OB attending physician on-site 24/7
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available around the clock
• Charge nurses take patient assignments as needed
• Nurse aides/OB technicians available (1–2 depending on census)
• Fetal heart monitoring capability
• No ventilator patients; no gynecologic surgeries on this unit
• Float assignments to NICU (feeders and growers) and pediatrics (low-acuity; typical diagnoses include RSV and ia)

Qualifications

• RN license (current in California)
• BLS (American Heart Association) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Minimum 4 years postpartum nursing experience
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Willingness to adapt to unit culture and workflows

Schedule & Support

• 12-hour night shifts (36 guaranteed hours/week)
• Every other weekend
• No call requirement
• One major and one minor holiday required
• Floor-specific orientation (3 shifts)
• Navy scrubs

Permanent staff welcomes travelers. Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
