Postpartum / Mother Baby Nurse — Los Angeles, CA
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Days | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week
This postpartum unit cares for a high-volume, high-risk obstetric population in an acute care setting. Nurses provide couplet care for mothers and newborns from 20 weeks gestation and above, managing complex conditions including hypertensive disorders, gestational diabetes, multiples, substance use, and patients with no prior prenatal care. No gynecological surgeries are performed on this unit.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour days
- Every other weekend required
- One major and one minor holiday
- No call required
Float Requirement
Nurses float to the NICU to care for feeder/grower infants and to a low-acuity Pediatrics unit (RSV, ia, and similar diagnoses).
Certifications Required
- BLS (AHA)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Additional Details
- Scrub color: Navy
- OB attending on-site 24/7; Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available around the clock
- Charge nurses take patient assignments as needed; OB techs/nurse aides available based on census
- Unit orientation: 3 shifts
- BSN not required; valid CA license required to submit
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of postpartum experience required
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Candidates must be adaptable and open to unit-specific workflows and team culture
Cancellation Policy
The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
