Intermediate Care / Step-Down Nurse — Boston, MA
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Shifts | Days/Nights Rotation
This intermediate care unit cares for a high-acuity mix of IMCU, neurology, medicine, and cardiology patients. The patient population includes individuals with complex medical needs such as chronic ventilator dependency, tracheostomies, and high-acuity heart failure, along with a significant volume of neurological and general medicine cases.
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts, day/night rotation
- 36-hour guaranteed weekly hours
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
Clinical Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of IMCU experience
- 2+ years of recent med-surg and telemetry experience
- Experience caring for neuro patients, MIs, and trach/vent patients
- Must independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips
- Telemetry competency assessment administered on day one
- Familiarity with automated medication dispensing systems required
- Critical care experience preferred
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will be compensated at a local rate
- Former permanent staff at this facility are not eligible for submission as travelers
- Contract start: November 2, 2026
