Labor & Delivery / Perinatal RN — Night Shift | Los Angeles, CA
13-Week Travel Contract | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week
This perinatal unit manages a high-volume, high-acuity obstetric population with patients from 20 weeks gestation and above. Common diagnoses include hypertensive disorders, multiples, gestational and pre-existing diabetes, substance use, and patients with no prenatal care. The unit maintains 24/7 OB attending and neonatologist coverage, with respiratory therapy and pharmacy also available around the clock.
Shift Details
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- First to float to antepartum and postpartum
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks (91 days)
- Guaranteed hours: 36/week
- Orientation: 3 shifts on unit
- Cancellation policy: Up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
Clinical Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience
- High-risk delivery experience required — be prepared to discuss specific high-risk case types
- C-section experience required (circulating); scrubbing preferred
- Familiarity with pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips
- Travel nursing experience preferred
Additional Details
- Scrubs provided; sterile attire required
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- OB techs present each shift to assist with deliveries and circulate for C-sections
- No acrylic or overlay nails permitted during assignment
- BSN not required; active California RN license required
