Geriatric Psychiatry RN — Asheville, NC

Shift: Nights | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Start Date: October 14, 2026

This travel RN opportunity is on a specialized Geriatric Psychiatry unit caring for older adult patients with complex behavioral health and medical needs. The unit operates with a close-knit team structure and a strong emphasis on compassionate, patient-centered care.

Unit Overview

• Geriatric psychiatric population requiring both behavioral health and medical nursing expertise
• Night shift team: 1 RN, 2 behavioral health technicians, sitters as assigned
• Weekend shifts required; no on-call obligations

Clinical Scope

• Vital signs monitoring, bladder scans, blood draws, IV management
• Rapid response and Code Blue participation
• Patient de-escalation and behavioral health assessment
• Use of Hoyer lift and standard safety monitoring equipment (bed/chair alarms, crash cart)

Required

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Experience in behavioral health and/or geriatric care
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred

• De-escalation training or experience
• Flexibility to adapt to varied patient acuity

Float: May float to all adult inpatient areas

Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs or all-white attire
